I’m the newbie.

There are two things to be prepared for that are always a bit of a surprise for new folks:

  • Guns are loud! Way louder than they seem on TV. That’s why we’re doing two layers of hearing protection.

  • It’s going to feel scary at first just seeing a gun on the table. That’s ok, it means you’re normal! We’re so used to seeing guns in movies and TV shows in a negative context that it’s totally normal if it feels scary to see one in real life. Just be aware that that’s going to happen, and it doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with you.

You’re going to have a great time, and the biggest part of that is having a safe time. Perfectly safe if we just follow these basic rules:

Here are some good intro videos on safety, marksmanship, and just general tips on what all the buttons/levers/switches on a gun do.

What to bring

  • Appropriate clothes: dress for the weather, wear comfortable closed-toe shoes, and avoid exposed necklines if possible.

  • If you have one, a baseball cap will help keep the sun out of your eyes and ejected casings out of your face.

  • Corrective lenses if you need them to see clearly.

  • Your driver’s license or other ID.

  • A positive attitude — shooting is fun and anyone can be good at it!
